Brioche and Beyond with Courtney Spainhower
In part one of this 6-hour class, we will review the abbreviations commonly used in brioche knitting and decipher them in a way that removes the mystery of BRK and BRP, then learn how to execute basic brioche stitches working flat. You will learn to complete simple increases along with right- and left-leaning decreases in Brioche. We will also discuss casting on and binding of in one color brioche and why different methods might be used.
With this basic understanding of the abbreviations and how to execute brioche stitches, you are now ready to come back and, in the second half of the class, learn how to work Brioche in rounds in one color, practicing paired sl1yo or BRK and BRP stitches at the start and end of each round. Next, we will add the contrasting color and work rounds for a 2-color reversible fabric. Finally, we will close the class with a brief lesson on casting on for 2-color brioche and working flat in 2 colors.
