Intro to Paper Piecing with Stephanie Soebbing
Here's what you'll learn: Learn how to create intricate piecing and sharp points without a fuss with paper piecing. This technique is basically sewing by numbers and will allow you to create beautiful designs without templates or perfect quarter-inch seams.
Stephanie Soebbing will walk you through the paper piecing process step-by-step using her Hanging Garden paper piecing pattern template. If you like the design, you can purchase the pattern and make the wall hanging or choose from the many other paper piecing patterns to try next.
But since you will just be working off a sample block in class, you just need a few scraps and a couple tools to get started.
Note: Sewing machines provided for use in classroom.
__Fabric scraps cut to size indicated in the pattern before class
__Haning Garden pattern
__Add-a-Quarter Ruler in 6-inch or 12-inch
__Violet Craft Seam Roller (optional)
__Carol Doak Foundation Paper (optional)
__Basic sewing supplies: Sewing machine, thread, rotary cutter, pins, ect.
The following is enough for three blocks. Everything should be cut prior to class.
Fabric A: Three, 2 3/4 inch squares
Fabric B: 12, 1 1/2-inch x 2 3/4-inch rectangles
Fabric C: 12, 1 3/4-inch x 3 1/2-inch rectangles
Fabric D: 12, 2-inch x 4 1/2-inch rectangles
Fabric E: 12, 6 1/2-inch x 8-inch rectangles
