Here's an even easier Wrist Muff set than the October project. These are intended for a first project. The ones shown use self striping yarn. This yarn is often thin and designed for socks, but will work well for wrists, too!
The Skill
Using only the garter stitch a rectangle sewn together becomes a cozy sleeve ender.
You will need:
- 1 ball of medium to bulky yarn.
- Size 10 needles
- Darning needle
Cast on 20 stitches.
Knit about 50 rows, or 25 ridges.
Bind off Leave a tail about as long as your arm.
Sewing the side
Using the yarn tail from your cast-off, sew the sides of the rectangle together beginning with the cast-off edge. When there are 10 ridges left, stitch through only one side for 4 ridges, then begin stitching both sides together to the end. This will make a thumb hole. Try these with many different yarns, almost anything will work. Make a pair to complement a favorite sweater or jacket.
