The Skill
Garter stitch is what you get when you knit back and forth in rows with just the knit stitch. These garter stitch squares are the perfect first project, and can be the building blocks for all kinds of bigger things.
You will need:
- Super bulky yarn
- Size 13 needles
Cast on 20 stitches.
Knit all rows. Knit until you can fold your knitting into a perfect triangle (while it is still on the needle), then you know it's square.
Bind off. Knit 2 stitches, then use your left needle to pull the first of those 2 stitches over the 2nd. Now knit another one, so there are 2 stitches on your right-hand needle again. Pull the bottom one over the top one, and off the needle. Continue until there is one stitch left. Cut your yarn, and pull the tail through this last loop. That's it!
One finished square is an accomplishment, many finished squares could be. . .?
