RickHello Everyone!

It’s that time of year. Turkey, stuffing, yams, and of course–working on holiday knitting projects. I bet I’m not the only one who knits while watching Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. (Actually, I am spending the holiday back home in Colorado with family. Guess which ham has to cook the turkey? smile).

By now you’ve received the winter issue of Knitter’s Magazine. We shot it here in Sioux Falls, SD and had so much fun putting it together. I hope you enjoy this issue as much as we enjoyed bringing it to you.

This issue marks the end of our extended sock coverage. We’ll announce the Think Outside The SOX contest winners at STITCHES West 2009 and share their stories in a special Knitting Universe article by Alexis Xenakis in the Summer issue. With all this focus on sock knitting, I started knitting socks again, but for some reason I can’t enter the contest frown.

thinklogoI’m not allowed to tell you about the entries frown, but we’ve received some beautiful socks so far… including some in the “Inspired by Knitter’s Magazine” category. It’s fair to say that the socks we’ve received have inspired us. The deadline is 5 weeks away… more than enough time to knit and send in your socks. Entries must be postmarked by December 31st.

And when you fill out that entry form, remember the sponsor categories offer ways to maximize (double, sometimes triple) your chances of winning. With the help and support of these sponsors and the SOX HOT SPOT shops, we were able to raise over $20,000 in prizes, including a $6000 grand prize!

Well… it’s time to get back to the grocery list. Mom can be such a taskmaster. I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving. Make sure you take a few moments for yourself, tell your family how much you love them, and maybe even knit a bit.

Thank you for being a part of the Knitting Universe.
