Hello Fiber Enthusiasts!
We hope you all had a relaxing Memorial Day weekend! We know that you’ve been patiently waiting for news about STITCHES East 2012 (held in Hartford, CT from Oct. 11-14, 2012) and East ETC 2012 (Oct. 15-16, 2012). And so we’re pleased to tell you that the classes, events, workshops, and brochure are online today and that registration for the show will open at 9:00 am (central time) next Wednesday (June 6, 2012).
If you’d like to look through the classes, events, and packages via our online registration system (which will allow you to search by teacher, day, and/or subject), we have turned on the preview mode for your convenience. You can also download the 63 page 22 Mb STITCHES East 2012 Classes, Events & ETC brochure in zipped PDF format (complete with bookmarks & hyper-links) or you can view the brochure as separate JPEG files on our new Knitting Universe Facebook page, Knitting Universe Google+ page, or as a set on Flickr.
This will be our biggest STITCHES East ever! Out of the 165 classes we’re offering, 79 are either brand new or new to this venue and 24 of these classes are crochet or ‘crochet friendly’. These classes are being taught by 44 of the best designers and teachers in the industry, including Ragga Eriksdottir, Brigitte Elliott, Sivia Harding, Michelle Hunter, Wilhelmine Peers, Daniel Yuhas, and Deborah Newton—all new to this venue!
And speaking of Deborah Newton… you won’t want to miss Deborah’s Opening Day presentation—On Designing: From Swatch to Finish. IN THIS FASCINATING RETROSPECTIVE PRESENTATION, she explores her design process. Join us and see how twin passions —swatching and finishing—inspire all aspects of Deborah Newton's work.
We’ve also included the two-day East 2012 ETC workshops in this PDF brochure and online preview. ETC is an abbreviation for “Explore your creativity, Transform your knitting, and Challenge yourself!” The idea is simple…these are two-day workshops with true masters that are held on the Monday and Tuesday immediately following STITCHES East. Gone is the bustle of the Market and running from class to class. You pick one teacher, and her workshop and stay with her for the two full days (with a limit of only 20 students per workshop).
You’ll have time — not just to hear the words and try the techniques, but to knit the swatches, create a plan, and do it yourself — for a peak knitting experience. This is your chance to indulge yourself in this 2-day KNITTING EXPERIENCE with one of our five amazing instructors.
We hope you’ll join us for an incredible weekend and maybe stay with us a little longer for ETC.
That’s all for now. We can’t wait to see you at STITCHES!
P.S. If you're going to be in the Chicago area between August 9-12, please come and see us at STITCHES Midwest 2012 in Schaumburg, IL. Besides a great market, there are still classes and events with open slots just for you.
