brochureHello Fiber Enthusiasts!

We know that you’ve been patiently waiting for news about STITCHES West 2013 (held in Santa Clara, CA from Feb. 21-24, 2013) and West ETC 2013 (Feb. 25-26, 2013). And if so, we’ve got great news. We’re so pleased to tell you that the classes, events, workshops, and brochure are online today. Registration for the show will open at 9:00 am (central time) on Monday, Sept. 24th, 2012.

If you’d like to look through the classes, events, and packages via our online registration system (which will allow you to search by teacher, day, and/or subject), we have turned on the preview mode for your convenience. You can also download the 68 page 20 Mb STITCHES West 2013 classes, events, & ETC workshops brochure in zipped PDF format (complete with bookmarks & hyper-links) or you can view the brochure as separate JPEG files on our new Knitting Universe Facebook page, Knitting Universe Google+ page, or as a set on Flickr.

We have an amazing selection of classes this year. Out of the 182 classes we’re offering, 82 of those are brand new to this venue and 36 have never been offered at a STITCHES Expo before. We’re also offering 17 classes that are crochet or ‘crochet friendly’. And all of these classes are being taught by 49 of the best designers and teachers in the industry, including Anne Berk, Brigitte Elliott, Faina Goberstein, Michelle Hunter, Shannon Okey, Carol Sulcoski, Cornelia Tuttle Hamilton, and Daniel Yuhas—all new to STITCHES West!

Opening Day We’ve also got a ‘killer’ Opening Day program for you… Living & Dyeing with Color—An Adventure with Laura Bryant.

We invite you to travel with Laura Bryant, the creative force behind Prism Yarns, as she shares highlights from a lifetime of knitting, crocheting, sewing, and weaving. Follow a road that begins in tradition, evolves into fine textile art, and then blossoms into hand-dyed yarn and color expertise. Her journey spans four decades and ranges far and wide across media, pushing boundaries at every step.

She’ll share the inspirations, sources, and thought processes that stamp a unique signature on her artwork, color ways, and designs.

Get inspired to integrate life experiences into your knitting. Embrace the world. Allow a holistic approach to spur you onward.

ETCWe’ve also included the two-day West 2013 ETC workshops in this PDF brochure and online preview. ETC is an abbreviation for “Explore your creativity, Transform your knitting, and Challenge yourself!” The idea is simple…these are two-day workshops with true masters that are held on the Monday and Tuesday immediately following STITCHES West. Gone is the bustle of the Market and running from class to class. You pick one teacher, one workshop and stay with them for two full days (with a limit of only 20 students per workshop).

You can knit anywhere, but the people you knit with can make a difference. At STITCHES ETC an expert is at your side, guiding you through new skills and helping you gain confidence. You’ll have time — not just to hear the words and try the techniques, but to knit the swatches, create a plan, and do it yourself — for a peak knitting experience. This is your chance to indulge yourself in a 2-day KNITTING EXPERIENCE with one of our five amazing instructors.

We hope you’ll join us for an incredible weekend and maybe stay with a little longer through ETC.

That’s all for now. We can’t wait to see you at STITCHES!

Team STS
