Hello Fiber Enthusiasts!

We hope you all had a relaxing Mother’s Day weekend! We know that you’ve been patiently waiting for news about STITCHES East 2013 (held in Hartford, CT from Nov. 7-10, 2013) and East ETC 2013 (Nov. 10-11, 2013). And so we’re pleased to tell you that the classes, events, workshops, and brochure are online now and that registration for the show will open at 9:00 am (central time) next Monday (May 20, 2013).

Class bookIf you’d like to look through the classes, events, and packages via our online registration system (which willallow you to search by teacher, day, and/or subject), we have turned on the preview mode for your convenience. You can also download the 70 page brochure in zipped PDF format (complete with bookmarks & hyper-links) or you can view the brochure as separate JPEG files on our new Knitting Universe Facebook page, Knitting Universe Google+ page, or as a set on Flickr.

Note: If you’re on an i-device of some kind please use this PDF download link so that you can open the brochure in Apple’s iBooks.

This will be our biggest STITCHES East ever! Out of the 168 classes we’re offering, 99 are either brand new or new to this venue and 19 of the classes are crochet or ‘crochet friendly’. These classes are being taught by 44 of the best designers and teachers in the industry, including Anne BerkJill Bigelow SuttellFranklin HabitJanel LaidmanAnne Kuo LukitoPatty LyonsStacey Trock, and Cornelia Tuttle Hamilton—who are all new to this venue!

RaglanThis year we have an exciting Designer Challenge Opening Day program planned for you. We’re about to broaden the playing field for the raglan game with the Lady Raglan Challenge. Fiona Ellis, Cornelia Tuttle Hamilton, and Barry Klein are going to take a fresh look at the Raglan. You’ll be able to see how their individual design processes and ideas lead to a beautiful finished garment—with you in mind! Each will come up with 3 design ideas for a ‘Lady Raglan’ and 1 complete garment, which will then appear on stage at Opening Day and in the Winter 2013 issue of Knitter’s Magazine. They will also take you through their individual design processes—often the best part!
etc
We’ve also included two-day East 2013 ETC workshops in this PDF brochure and online preview. ETC is an abbreviation for “Explore your creativity, Transform your craft, and Challenge yourself!” The idea is simple…these are two-day intensive workshops with true masters that are held on Sunday & Monday. You pick one teacher, one workshop, and stay with them for the two full days (with a limit of only 20 students per workshop). You’ll have time — not just to hear the words and try the techniques, but also to create a plan, and do it yourself. This is your chance to indulge yourself in this 2-day CREATIVE EXPERIENCE with one of our five amazing instructors.

We hope you’ll join us for an incredible weekend and maybe stay with us a little longer through ETC.

There’s so much more we could tell you about this show, but we’ll let you download the brochure and see for yourself why you can’t miss this incredible weekend!

That’s all for now. We can’t wait to see you at STITCHES!
