| February 1, 2003 Well, I didn't have the heart to write to you again until I finished my UFO (unfinished object). I finished! It is the Caddy sweater from Sally Melville's The Knitting Experience book. I think I may start another right away, it's so wearable, and comfortable. But there is this other project. . . There seems to be a Knitter's #63 Market Square Bag subculture. I hope to be a new initiate before, well. . . well before summer, anyway. I can follow a strain like a virus of those caught by the MSB (Market Square Bag) bug. I was first aware of the virus at the office. One woman there had it really bad, she made like 7 for Christmas! Then she infected others. Knit-Knite-ers began showing signs of bumpy diamonds that spread across their laps. Now that rash of stockinette is turning up at my afternoon knitting@Natalie's. I'm finally to my first decrease tier, ahhh. . . I'm feeling better already. Wander the Web You may have noticed we have a WebFinder in Knitter's Magazine now. Use this to open up new virtual doors to knitting opportunities. Always check the Web for difficult to find yarns, and just the right size of needle--the shops are always open, and the shopping environment is so "you." If need direction in anything knitting, remember to consult KnitU. Search the database, or write in personally to 5000+ eager knitters simultaneously. KnitU has so many happy customers, it should have a drive-through! Last time we broke down the areas of the knittinguniverse.com. This time we'll treat them like beats. I'll let you know any breaking news on each one: Universe (homepage):

Some thoughts on the question: Are we talking about shooting for perfection? or about being perfectionists, which is quite different, I think. Or are we talking about excellence, and how we define it? I remember my mother telling me when I was quite young that nature isn't perfect, and that since people are part of nature, you can't expect people to be perfect, either. For me, the question is whether I can take pride in something I've done. Translated into knitting: if a mistake is glaring and spoils the look or function of something, then it's not acceptable; if the mistake just sits there and is unobtrusive, then I live with it and move on. ___________________ Natalie Sorenson The previous XRX Insider Linkletter was posted December 12, 2002. volume 3 issue 1 |
