Most of us knit or crochet to relax. What do you do?
My passion is knitting though I can crochet if I must.

What's the most unlikely place you've ever knitted or crocheted?
When my husband accompanies me to the grocery story, I knit while I walk around and shop for groceries.

Which knitting and crochet luminaries (living or dead) would you invite to a dream dinner party?
Nicky Epstein, Louisa Harding, Zoe Mellor and pretty much all my STITCHES colleagues.

Tell us about your most unusual teaching experience.
Each workshop has its little surprises for me so one singular experience doesn't stand out.

What's your favorite tool in your knitting bag? Why?
My Knit Kit. I have one in every color and in most of my knitting bags because it has every tool I'll ever need. I also carry a beautiful silver twisted darning needle with me. I love it! It feels so good in my hand, and I use it on most of my projects!

What's the latest knitting or crochet technique you learned that rocked your world?
Let's say it's a technique that I have done in the past but now have become very very familiar with -- Short Rows!
They fascinate me! I love the way things can be shaped so smoothly sometimes invisibly and sometimes visibly with color changes for effect!

When you look at another designer's work, what makes you say "wow"?
The way the design, color and fiber flow together in the most marvelous way that you wouldn't expect by just looking at the three components separately.

Have you ever seen one of your designs on someone "in the wild"? What's that feeling like?
I see quite a few of my sock designs on people, and it feels strange but very exciting too. And every now and again it happens that someone proudly shows me their finished socks -  a lovely pattern worked in a lovely yarn and I'm all like: "Wow! Those are pretty socks! What pattern is that?" Usually the person just looks at me totally perplexed, like I'm crazy (and I am a little) and finally says: "Errr, Antje, that's your pattern."  At that point I would love for the earth to open and swallow me whole! It continues to amaze me how different patterns look depending on the yarn used.

As a famous knitting (or crochet) teacher, you must travel a lot.  Do you have any secret airport vices you'd like to share?
When I am at the airport, I indulge in a Grande NonfatVanilla Latte from Starbucks usually I only get a tall! take my coffee, find a cozy space and listen to an audio book while knitting, knitting, knitting because when you travel what better thing is there to spend the time waiting on planes to be ready for you?

One last thing, what are you most looking forward to about STITCHES?
It's a different world full of like-minded people. You don't have to know a knitter or anything else connect with them; just talk fiber, knitting, crocheting or what your passion encompasses, and they will understand 100%! To me, it always feels like the last STITCHES event didn't happen months ago but only yesterday.
