Most of us knit or crochet to relax. What do you do?
Honestly, I don't know anymore.  I seem to crochet or knit wherever I go no matter what I am doing.

What's the most unlikely place you've ever knitted or crocheted?
I have cast on a pair of socks on dpn's while I was walking on a treadmill before.  Not easy but I did it!

Which knitting and crochet luminaries (living or dead) would you invite to a dream dinner party?
The #1 person I would like to meet and talk to is Mari Lynn Patrick.  I think she is prolific at designing, and I would love a chance to pick her brain.

Tell us about your most unusual teaching experience.
One time, I was teaching a beginner knitting class, and one of the students (a long time crocheter who decided she wanted to learn to knit after listening to my podcast for years) started to cry because she was so overwhelmed by meeting me.  I quickly started to show her yarn to distract her, and I told her that it was nice to meet her.

What's your favorite tool in your knitting bag? Why?
My darning needles by The Crochet Dude.  I love the sharp tip!

What's the latest knitting or crochet technique you learned that rocked your world?
I learned how to do seamless crochet from Kristin Omdahl, and it is mind blowing!

When you look at another designer's work, what makes you say "wow"?
Usually it is the construction of something and the way a stitch pattern has been used to make something beautiful.

Have you ever seen one of your designs on someone "in the wild"? What's that feeling like?
When I saw Benjamin Levisay wear my Ratatouille hat that Pam Haschke of Halos of Hope made, it was a thrill to say the least.

As a famous knitting (or crochet) teacher, you must travel a lot.  Do you have any secret airport vices you'd like to share?
I have the most obnoxious suitcase ever, which is perfect because I can always find it at bag claim.

One last thing, what are you most looking forward to about STITCHES?
I love getting to meet all the students in my classes, giving away prizes at the PJ Party, and I am super lucky that I get to see and hang out with some of my most treasured designer friends at least 4 times a year!
