1668 No skills required Tapestry 101: Beginnings
Learn how to warp a simple frame loom, learn the importance of tension and selvedge control and become familiar with tapestry-weaving terminology. You will begin weaving heading and working Soumak to separate the warp threads, then try simple horizontal and vertical stripes, spots, blocks of color, slits, diagonals, and curves.
We will also discuss warp and weft choices, sett, sources for materials, and finishing methods.
Tapestry is a wonderfully creative medium requiring little overhead and equipment costs. Besides being another outlet for creativity, tapestry weaving also uses up odd bits of yarn!
