Barry Klein
Trendsetter Group owner/designer Barry Klein has been knitting for 40 years. He started by working in his family's knitting store, where all patterns were designed for the knitter's body. For the past 25 years he has worked as an industry teacher, doing knitting classes all over the world.

Barry has designed knitwear for magazines, television shows, ice skaters, and movie stars; authored 5 knitting books; and worked as a spokesman on Knitting Daily and other television knitting shows. He loves to share his love of yarn and everything that can be done with it. Barry has been voted one of the Top 10 Men who Knit/Design throughout history.

3060 Intermediate Simply Short Rows This practical technique can be used in multiple ways to create flares, build extra fabric, refine body shape with wonderful results which make your knitting more flattering and easier to assemble.

We will discuss and knit the different variations of short rows. This class will help you more than you can imagine! Create sweaters that fit better and accessories that drape beautifully around the neck with short rows.

8070 Easy Tunisian Crochet from Beginning to End This class will take you through all of the basic techniques of Tunisian Crochet. We'll begin with yarn selection, proceed to changing directions, and explore variations from there. We will look at accessories for the home, wearable garments, and different styles of Tunisian Crochet and how they will fit into your future.

Note: Must have a good command of basic crochet skills.

Barry Klein shows you a simple way to create a unique fabric from an important event in your life (birthday, wedding, anniversary, or graduation).

Take an important event and turn that date (the month, day, and year numbers) into rows then assign a separate color and yarn to each and crochet a striped openwork filet fabric. Take those same numbers and weave through the openwork to create a plaid.

The simplicity of this technique and idea have you ready to MAKE something special for everyone you love: a simple scarf or wrap, a comfy throw or afghan, or maybe a complete bed cover.
Note: Students must have basic crochet knowledge.

3014 Intermediate Top Down and All Around Learn the basic techniques for knitting from the top down. We will jump right in and start working on a small sweater which might fit a 1-year-old or Teddy Bear. During the class, we will talk about variations, different techniques, and different ways to knit from the top down. Barry will cover various increases, yarn selection, a bit of math and more. When class is over, you will have a partially complete sample with the elements complete so you can understand the full process, potential, and you will be ready to design a top-down sweater from scratch using your measurements.
