Advanced You should have made several garments in various stitch patters and should comfortable making minor changes to patterns. Advanced is fun and challenging for thinking knitters.

A sampler of decorative cast-ons including variations on long-tail and German-twisted cast-on, traditional twine-knit cast-ons with multiple strands, casting on with colors to make braids, and a textured cast-on using knit and purl rounds. Also covered are yarn management for color work and center-pull ball winding. Note: Must know long-tail cast-on.

455-6 Intermediate Scandinavian-design Star Slippers for Kids
Like sweaters for little feet, these Scandinavian designed slippers will delight. This pattern has been adapted for smaller feet, but the techniques are applicable to adult sizes as well. We'll start with a two-strand version of Judy's magic cast on, learn how to make right and left lifted increases, insert waste yarn, work with two colors in a round, decrease and pick up for cuffs. Along the way, we'll use purls and knits for textural accents.

645-3 Intermediate Scandinavian Multi-color Knitted Textures, Zigzags, and Braids
Learn decorative edge treatments found on garments in Norway and Sweden. Beginning with a basic cast-on and its derivatives including variations on long-tail and German-twisted cast-on, and traditional twine-knit cast-on with multiple strands, we'll make braids and colorful textures with twine knit and purl rounds. Practice yarn-management for color work and center-pull ball-winding techniques. Note: Must know long-tail cast-on and how to work in the round on 2 circulars or 4 dpn.
