Easy You should know the basics, how to increase and decrease, and have made at least one project.
Intermediate You should have worked with a few stitch patterns and should be familiar wtih basic garment shaping.
Advanced You should have made several garments in various stitch patters and should comfortable making minor changes to patterns. Advanced is fun and challenging for thinking knitters.

Susan is a Professor of Fashion at Mesa College in San Diego with over twenty years experience teaching design, pattern making, textiles, and other design-related courses at a college level. She also designs wearable art and is a computer-graphic artist. A line of software she has created for Cochenille Design Studio combines her skills.

Love to knit, but don't know if the pattern will fit? Learn how to translate the knitting instructions into measurements and then compare them to your body to determine if the garment will fit and if alterations are necessary. Students will measure themselves and work on several patterns to determine and calculate the fit according to their need. Choosing appropriate styles for your figure will also be covered.

Walk through a series of exercises and activities that will help you determine what styles and which knit fabrics work with your figure, face, and lifestyle. Working through this process in a classroom filled with other real bodies is empowering. You'll see beyond the measurements to proportion and discover the magic of garment shape and line. We'll explore a variety of topics that will help you make better design decisions and allow you to actually wear the garments you knit!
