379-3 Intermediate Ripped from the Runway
Have you ever looked at garments in a fashion magazine or on the runway and said "I could knit that!" but didn't? Ripped from the Runway provides you with the skills to analyze garments (from sweaters to accessories) and interpret them in handknitting. Learn how to adapt fashion-forward garments to your size for a flattering fit and how to pick the right yarns and notions to finish the job right.
Saturday 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
389-3 No skills required Designer 101 Bootcamp
You're a talented knitter, and everyone loves the things you design, but you don't know where to start when it comes to selling your patterns online and elsewhere. Shannon will bring you up to speed on everything you need to know, including establishing your own systems that make self-publishing patterns easy, fun and profitable! (Hey, you have to pay for the yarn stash somehow, right?) Join your fellow budding designers as we discuss everything from style sheets to photography, where and how to sell your work, how to spot trends and identify gaps in the market, and much, much more. Be prepared to present existing patterns, if you've already published them, for critique and helpful feedback.
Sunday 8:30 am - 11:30 am
311-3 Intermediate The Sweater Map
Using Shannon's 'sweater map' technique, students will learn how to design their own perfect sweater. We'll discuss proper measurement-taking, gathering inspiration, and translating everything from the page to the needles. Along the way, students will also learn how to address their own personal challenges for optimal sweater fit and style.
