Advanced You should have made several garments in various stitch patters and should comfortable making minor changes to patterns. Advanced is fun and challenging for thinking knitters.

Brooke Nico
Brooke began her designing activities by sewing her own wardrobe, inspired by drape and color. She brought her talents to knitting almost 10 years ago, first exploring modular construct, then lace. In 2006 Brooke opened Kirkwood Knittery which she not runs with business partner Robyn Schrager. As a dedicated teacher, Brooke guides knitters through the intricacies of techniques to make their projects as polished as possible.

651-3 Easy Introduction to Lace Knitting
Lace knitting is often considered to be the ultimate goal of knitters. It is swathed in fear and excitement. In this class, we are going to de-mystify the techniques of lace knitting. Learn how to work yarn overs in a variety of combinations, including double yarn overs; how to make those beautiful shaping lines with several important decreases; and how the two techniques combine to create lace patterns. We will also discuss the tools of lace knitting, including weights and fibers of yarn, lace needles, markers, and charts.
Note: Students must know basic decreases.

584-3 Easy Tackle Box for Tackling Lace
Learn all about the essential tools to make your lace knitting easier and more fun. We'll discuss the various types of yarns and fibers for lace, and which fibers are best suited to which lace stitches. We'll look in depth at blocking, including a demonstration of blocking a shawl, and how to use your blocking wires and pins. We'll also discuss stitch markers, tools to keep you on track with your knitting, as well as some great home-made hints and tricks that I use all the time!

528-3 Advanced Fixing Mistakes in Lace Knitting
Everyone who knits lace does it eventually. While working a lace shawl, you discover a mistake several rows back. If you've inserted a life line, you can rip back safely, but what if you don't have a life line, or what if you don't want to rip out all 100+ stitches simply to repair some of them? In this class, we discuss how to fix mistakes big and small in your lace knitting. We'll practice laddering up stitches in pattern using a crochet hook. We'll also learn how to rip out a repeat of 10+ stitches, leaving the rest intact and re-knitting only those stitches.
Note: Students must be comfortable with lace knitting.

669-3 Intermediate Around the World: Estonian and Shetland Lace
Lace motifs and stitch patterns from different regions of the world share many aesthetic qualities, yet each region has its own special focus. Look at Shetland and Estonian lace and receive tips and tricks to help in knitting nupps and gathered stitches so predominant in Estonian Lace. Leave class with great swatches and ideas for several projects.
Note: Students must be comfortable with lace knitting.
