Basic Know basic stitches (knit, purl or single crochet, double crochet).
Easy You should know the basics, how to increase and decrease, and have made at least one project.
Intermediate You should have worked with a few stitch patterns and should be familiar wtih basic garment shaping.
Advanced You should have made several garments in various stitch patters and should comfortable making minor changes to patterns. Advanced is fun and challenging for thinking knitters.
Candace Eisner Strick
Candace Eisner Strick has immersed herself in music and knitting most of her life. Now retired from 16 years of teaching cello, she concentrates on designing, writing, and teaching knitting.
Her book, Strick-ly Socks, features a revolutionary and amazingly simple way of knitting socks. Candace is the author of 6 other books, has been published in numerous magazines, and has taught nationally and internationally since 1998. She is the creator of her own line of yarn, Merging Colors, and her own line of patterns under the name of Strickwear (www.strickwear.com).
Candace's students say they not only love learning from her classes but thoroughly enjoy her sense of humor as well. Appropriately, 'strick' means to knit.

You have to bind off anyway, right? Why not make a border at the same time? From sophisticated to funky, you can do two things at one time! Sample six border bind-offs: crochet picot, attached I-cord, applied lace, knit picot, I-cord fringe, and one more mysterious teaser!

Tiny little details can add huge amounts of interest to any knit garment. Some are super easy to do; others require gymnastics! But all will keep you on the edge of your seat waiting to see the outcome. We will start with a cool twisted cast-on, Â”just the thing every knitting book cautions you not to do, then go on to do splits, tucks, and twists.

Now you CAN knit with two colors with the right side always facing. Learn how to knit with one color in each hand, and how to go back and forth without turning your work. Helpful to those who wish to knit continental, helpful to those who wish to learn to hold the yarn in their right hand, and helpful to those who are deathly afraid of steeking! Come one, come all; there is something for everybody.

This beautiful shape has long been regarded as aesthetically pleasing. Useful as a scarf or a shawl because the shape stays on your shoulders, they also make wonderful belts or sashes. A subtle interplay of short rows and decreasing is the secret to their successful geometry. Borders and decorative bind-offs help to create a masterpiece.

ETC Advanced Strickmuster: The Beautiful Twisted Stitch Patterns of Austria
These gorgeous patterns wind and twist around each other in complicated and intricate designs, but actually are done using only two basic techniques â€” without the use of a cable needle. We will sample some of the 174 charming patterns from Maria Erlbacher's book, Strickmuster and learn how to read the unique yet logical charts. Each person will then choose and start a project. Projects can range from wrist warmers to mittens, socks or a hat. There will be charts and directions for all projects which you can either use as is or modify in any way you wish.
