Basic Know basic stitches (knit, purl or single crochet, double crochet).
Easy You should know the basics, how to increase and decrease, and have made at least one project.
Intermediate You should have worked with a few stitch patterns and should be familiar with basic garment shaping.
Advanced You should have made several garments in various stitch patterns and should be comfortable making minor changes to patterns. Advanced is fun and challenging for thinking knitters.

Deb has been teaching in local shops and at retreats, specializing in top-down raglan techniques with a special interest in getting them to fit and in encouraging knitters to add their own elements to make them their own creation.

Let's add a V-neck to a top down raglan cardigan. As you work a baby-sized cardigan you will learn to use short rows to shape the neck of any raglan and transform it into a V-neck garment. It's easy. You will learn all the techniques needed to work a larger version just for you. You will be able to take any plain raglan and transform it into a V or crew neck using short rows.

The raglan sweater is a wonderful top down garment but . . . what would happen if we threw out the rules for a raglan and made up our own rules for where the increases are worked. What would happen? Adjust your top down raglan sweater to your figure. Take off some extra pounds without hitting the gym. Adjust your raglan sweater to skim your curves. Reduce underarm bulk and take some extra fabric off the arms. Trim your waist and create some wiggle room around your hips. No sweating necessary. You'll take home a template, a sweater map of your figure and know how to make adjustments for all your future top down raglans.
