Easy You should know the basics, how to increase and decrease, and have made at least one project.
Intermediate You should have worked with a few stitch patterns and should be familiar with basic garment shaping.
Advanced You should have made several garments in various stitch patterns and should be comfortable making minor changes to patterns. Advanced is fun and challenging for thinking knitters.
Laura loves to teach new versions of traditional Scandinavian knitting techniques using two yarns worked independently. She's taken twined knitting into the modern age with bulky yarns and multiple color effects. As a designer for fiber related magazines, she develops new patterns and techniques for nifty accessories. Knit a smorgasbord of Swedish twined stitches for this stitch sampler. Master ball winding, traditional twine knit cast-ons, yarn management for color work, twined knitting and purling, jogless intersections, chain path stitch, crook stitch, deep stitch, charts, and a sewn bind-off. Note: Must be familiar with long-tail cast-on and working with 2 circular needles or 4 dpns.

A sampler of decorative cast-ons including variations on long-tail and German-twisted cast-on, traditional twine-knit cast-ons with multiple strands, casting on with colors to make braids, and a textured cast-on using knit and purl rounds. Also covered are yarn management for color work and center-pull ball winding. Note: Must know long-tail cast-on.
