Easy You should know the basics, how to increase and decrease, and have made at least one project.
Intermediate You should have worked with a few stitch patterns and should be familiar with basic garment shaping.
Advanced You should have made several garments in various stitch patterns and should be comfortable making minor changes to patterns. Advanced is fun and challenging for thinking knitters.

Marty has served as President of the Crochet Guild of America and teaches at their national conferences, as well as the TNNA conferences. She also wrote the Crochet Doctor column for Crochet Today! 8042 Easy Foundation Stitches 101: the Basics
The most difficult part of a crochet pattern is working into the foundation chain. Learn how to avoid the foundation chain by making the chain AND the first row of stitches at the same time. You already know how to make the basic stitches (sc, hdc, and dc). Now learn the basic foundation stitches (fsc, fhdc, and fdc) and how to use them in all your patterns and designs. You'll also learn why they are, as one student called them, 'a Lifesaver.' Some people call these foundation stitches "chainless foundation," or "no-chain foundation," or "chain-free foundation" stitches.

8043 Easy Tunisian Crochet 101
Tunisian Crochet (once called Afghan Stitch or Afghan Crochet) is a happy marriage between knit and crochet. Whether you know how to knit or know how to crochet, you will soon be able to work Tunisian Crochet. And if you know how to knit but don't know how to crochet, it's a great way to learn crochet. You'll learn the basic stitches of Tunisian Crochet, some intermediate stitches, shaping techniques, and more. You'll work a beginner project and find out what all the buzz is about. You, too, will "go Tunisian"!

You know how relaxing Tunisian crochet is. Now see how much you can do with it!
