Knitting since the age of 6 (thanks to mom's and grandma's patience—that's mom Jean Frost, jacket knitter extraordinaire), Dawn has been privileged to experiment with all types of knitting traditions and projects. Attending STITCHES for many years and learning from the best teachers in the field further enriched her knitting repertoire. Growing up with the adage "I don't need patterns" has given Dawn the freedom to acquire fiber first and then create something beautiful when inspired. She strives to instill this knitting confidence in all the people she works with.

6105 Advanced Elegant Knit Ribbon Fabric for Jackets
With the abundance of ribbon available to us today, it is time to revisit vintage patterns. Knitting ribbon with today's techniques typically produces a bulky fabric which can be appropriate for some garments. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have the option to create a thinner fabric giving us more design options? In this course, we will review vintage patterns and their construction. A selection of knit jacket appropriate stitch patterns will be provided so that the class can practice constructing these fabrics. The class will close with a discussion of how to finish the ribbon fabric once knitted.
