7070 No skills required Shooting Your Stitches! Kellie Nuss, an established professional photographer as well as a knitting instructor, will walk you through the VERY BASICS of good light and composition so you can capture pleasing images of your knit pieces. Whether you are shooting with your phone, a point-and-shoot, or a DSLR, learn to show your stitchwork off to its best advantage. All you need is to know how to push your camera's shoot button and to have a can-do attitude! Kellie will do some live shooting both with her equipment and yours and give students the chance to do the same. Friendly and supportive critiquing will help you see how good light, trying a different camera angle, and taking a few chances will quickly improve your photos.
Note: This class is NOT a technical photography class. It is for anyone who wants to take better, more-fun photos of their knitting and learn how to use them in this modern, connected knitting world.

Friday 10:30 am - 11:30 am
TT17 Basic Magic Twist-Knit With simple knitting and a flip of the work, you can create pieces that look like dramatic cables. We will make a bracelet that shows the technique, and students will receive a pattern for a scarf.
Friday 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm
TT2 Easy Continental Knitting Continental knitting involves tensioning the yarn in the hand holding the unworked stitches (for most people this is the left hand) and using the other needle to pick stitches through in a quick and efficient manner. It is a great technique to have in your knitting repetoire. It can solve a multitude of knitting problems or just be a good companion to the way you already knit. Your instructor will teach the basics of tensioning the yarn and picking the stitches rather than throwing. We will learn the knit and purl stitches and have time to practice and discuss how to transition to this useful method of knitting.
Friday 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
TT8 No skills required Knitting in Both Directions Knitting in both directions allows the knitter to always be looking at the right side, even if you are knitting flat. The work is never turned, and the knitter cleverly works both knit and purl stitches from the same side. This saves time when working on a very small number of stitches as for bobbles or entrelac, and it saves effort when working on a very large number of stitches. Your instructor will teach the basics of working knit and purl stitches from the right side of the work. There is time for practice and a discussion of how to use this technique in your every-day knitting.

TT14 Basic Hand Dyed Savvy for Knits Learn the basics of understanding hand-dyed yarns and how to get the most out of then. Saturday 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm
CC2 No skills required Double Knit in Color Double knitting in color creates a two-sided, double-thick fabric with an image on one side and the exact negative of the image on the other side. In class, we will learn the basic steps and get started on a coaster-sized sample with a simple motif. This will require concentration and experience in reading patterns and instructions comfortably.

TT27 Basic Arm Knitting The phenomenon of arm knitting hit the internet a little while ago, and it's no wonder it was instantly popular. In an hour or less, you can begin a luxurious scarf, cowl, or wrap, finish it, and head off to a party wearing your creation. In this class, we'll learn the movements of arm knitting and start on a piece that will measure approximately 60x20, depending on how you stretch it and wear it.
Materials: Approximately 120 yards of super-bulky yarn (gauge of 2 sts or less on size 13 or larger needles). Yarn should be purchased in two balls or pre-wound into two balls.
