Andrea Wong
Andrea was born and raised in South America. She teaches knitting at venues throughout the country, has been published in a variety of knitting magazines, and is the lead designer for her business, Andrea Wong Knits.
She first learned to knit from her mother when she was 7 years old and has been knitting ever since. After receiving many invitations to teach regionally and nationally, she quit her position at the local yarn shop and opened her own business in 2003.
In the past 11 years Andrea has taught thousands of knitters in the USA and abroad to use the Portuguese style of knitting. Andrea’s experience and in-depth knowledge of this style makes this method of knitting attainable by any knitter. Andrea has published a book Portuguese Style of Knitting - History, Traditions and Techniques and 3 DVDs on the subject.

5002 Easy Portuguese Style of Knitting During this workshop knitters will have the opportunity to learn about the history and practice the style of knitting which is in Greece, Portugal, Egypt, and Turkey. The main characteristic is that the yarn is either wrapped behind the neck or looped through a pin attached to the shoulder in order to maintain a constant tension. Students will learn the knit stitch, the purl stitch, increases, decreases, cast on and bind off. A project will be given to practice all techniques described in class for complete understanding.
Material Fee: $5.00 for knitting pin.

5130 Intermediate Double Knitting Portuguese Style When you use the Portuguese style to work in the double knitting technique, you obtain a very pleasant rhythm. Learn the basics of the Portuguese style technique, progress to double knitting, and work a project that involves both. The class project will be worked in the round using two colors.
Optional materials fee: $10.00 for two knitting pins
Note: Must be comfortable working in the round using either dpns or 2 circulars.
