Amy Gunderson
Amy Gunderson taught herself to crochet at the age of 20 while trying to kill time at her pizza making job. Years later, as owner of a pizza business, she broadened her skill set to include knitting and weaving. If there were no pizzas in the queue, she was learning cables, lace, steeking, pattern writing, and everything in between. Publications who have featured her work include Interweave Knits, Knitscene, Knit.Wear, Knit n Style, Creative Knitting, and Knit Now. Amy now works as creative lead for Universal Yarn. She considers herself a jack of all trades but most loves to create and knit colorwork patterns.

Saturday 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm Sunday 8:30 am - 11:30 am
8054 Advanced Creative Crochet Charting This class is geared toward designers or other crocheters who have a need to create professional looking crochet charts. Available crochet charting software can be expensive and does not include the ability to customize symbols. The class will be taught using Inkscape, a free open-source program very similar to Adobe Illustrator. Students will be required to come to class with a laptop loaded with either Inkscape or Illustrator. Crochet charting is unlike charting knitting patterns due to its innately organic nature. Many crochet designers are at a loss as to how to digitally present charted crochet patterns due to their seeming complexity. Often, designers will include hand drawn charts in patterns.
Rather than creating hand-drawn charts, learn how to create charts symbol by symbol. We will cover all skills needed to make basic crochet symbols, clusters, motifs, and more complex shapes and stitches. Students do not need previous Inkscape or Illustrator experience.
Note: This class begins on Saturday afternoon and concludes on Sunday morning.
