Rick Mondragon
Rick Mondragon, Knitter's Magazine editor, has been knitting for over 40 years. His passion for color is obvious in his work, but underlying all his designs are technique and fit. He has been teaching for 25 years, offering ideas and insight to perfecting skills with needles, hooks, yarn, fiber, fabric, and thread. Rick loves the challenge of garment design and deconstructing and translating a pattern into words.

STITCHES Midwest 2015 Classes
Back To STITCHES Midwest 2015 Class List

Thursday 10:00 am - 11:59 am
No skills required Opening Day Spotlight only Your Swatch is TALKING. Indulge your inner knitter, LISTEN.

For knitters and crocheters, it all begins with the swatch.
Actually, it begins with yarn and needles . . . or an idea . . . or a pattern. No matter — you need a swatch.

But that swatch isn't just about getting gauge. It’s about creating a 3-D fabric where stitch pattern, color placement, and even technique take you far beyond stitches and rows per inch.

Swatches — a lot of them — are often all that separate failure from success, and develop each of us into satisfied, fulfilled knitters.

When you ask, “What if?”— your swatch has the answers. Learn to love, understand, and value your swatch.

Are you planning to attend the Teachers a al Carte Luncheon, too? Purchase the Opening Day Spotlight and Luncheon option and save.

Let Rick Mondragon guide you through the logic and approaches used by the Knitter's Magazine editorial team to create sleeves that flatter, fit, and marry well with their armholes.
