Karen Grover
Karen's life-long love of textiles is evident! From her youth, she has made her own clothing, incorporating sewing, embroidery, and knitting. For over thirty years she has been dyeing everything she can get her hands on. She is a former owner of a yarn shop and now Karen's yarn is available through Seven Sisters Arts, her company based in Maine.
Recently, Karen's biggest fiber passion is shibori indigo dyeing and she has had the privilege of learning from some of the foremost shibori artists in the world.

7114 Easy Intro to Shibori and Indigo Dyeing Karen introduces you to basic techniques of shibori (traditional Japanese methods for creating design on fabric as it is dyed) and indigo dyeing. You will dye silk scarves or fat quarters of cotton in vats of pre-reduced indigo using arashi, itajime, and stitching for the resist patterning. Participants will have an opportunity to apply one or more of these methods to 2 items during the class.
Note: Wear old clothes or an apron.

Materials fee: $20: Includes use of dyes, all equipment and silk fabric
