Gail Yellen
In 1998, Gail began taking classes at a local sewing center, and sewing quickly became a passion and a form of creative expression. Teaching classes and interacting with all levels of sewing enthusiasts continues to be a source of inspiration and fun. Experimenting with embellishment techniques is a favorite pastime. Her fascination with sergers is an ongoing source of ideas for embellishments. 

Gail is a member of the American Sewing Guild CT Chapter and moderated the Manchester Neighborhood Group’s activities for over 10 years. She has taught classes and workshops for American Sewing Guild National Conferences, the Puyallup Sewing & Stitchery Expo, Joi’s Sewing Holiday, Sewcial, Original Sewing & Quilt Expos, American Sewing Expo—Novi, MI (2015 Teacher of the Year), and numerous American Sewing Guild Chapter events. Her Craftsy class, 40 Techniques Every Sewer Should Know, is one of their bestsellers. Gail is a contributor to Threads, Sew News and Notions. F+W Media published Gail’s book, Serger Essentials Master the Basics & Beyond! in December 2015.

9022 Easy Collage It! Color blocking and collaging fabrics is all the rage! Using several different fabrics and fusible interfacing, you’ll learn how easy and fun it is to create an artful pillow top. The butted seam technique keeps the seams bulk-free and smooth. Add decorative stitches or your favorite embellishment technique to give it your own personal style. We’ll explore several different joining stitches that are strong and beautiful. You’ll love this collage technique and take it to the next level for future projects like jackets, scarves or shawls.

9021 Easy It's All About Embellishment! Learn how to create eye-catching, beautiful embellishments. You’ll make 'windows', 'charming' window dressing, gorgeous appliqué and reverse appliqué techniques. You'll couch fibers, try a quick “Un-Beweavable” weaving technique, and use a twin needle. We’ll discuss color, composition, and placement. My embellishment trunk show is loaded with inspiration galore for your next garment, quilt, or home décor project!
