STITCHES West 2018 Classes
Back To STITCHES West 2018 Class List

Friday 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
3150 Intermediate Design a Hat: It's as Easy as Making Pizza! In this beginning design class, you'll see how easy it is to create a basic hat shape using any weight yarn. From there, you'll divide the hat into a number of wedges (slices) and use your favorite stitch patterns as toppings. By the end of class, you're well on your way to having a unique hat, designed to your personal taste! And you'll walk away with a hunger for more design!
Note: You should have knit at least one hat before. It's good if you know basic math and have knit textured stitch patterns before.
Friday 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
6222 Intermediate Stitch Pattern Savvy: Adding Flavor to Plain Vanilla Knits Learn to add extra flavor to your favorite, go-to, "plain vanilla" patterns. So many of us gravitate to the patterns that we love and knit them again and again. Sometimes it's because these knits are easy, fit well, or just because we love them and want them in every color. Learn how to add your own style without having to change the basic structures. See how to add all-over texture, a centered motif, or a textured panel down front, back, and sleeves.
Saturday 9:00 am - 12:00 pm     SOLD OUT
3149 Easy The Lazy Knitter's Guide to Knits that Fit Are you a lazy knitter? Do you avoid measuring and swatching and just kinda estimate which size sweater to make in hopes that it will all work out in the end? ME TOO! Over time, I've learned to be ok with WITH my own natural knitting tendencies, I and have developed sure-fire ways to work toward a more relaxed, easier sweater-fitting experience.

In this class, I'll share simple ways to create better-fitting sweaters for yourself and others without drowning in math or swatching yourself to death.

Note: It would be great if you've knit (or started to knit) a sweater before. You should know how to use a ruler / measuring tape and know basic math (Don't worry, I'll give you handout to keep and use on your own.)
Saturday 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
2005 Easy Cross the Finish Line Every Time So you've done the hard part, all of the knitting on your latest project, but there's one final step before it actually looks like it did in the designer's photo: the finishing. You're so close! With the help of this class, you'll be able to block, seam, weave in the ends, and fix minor errors like dropped stitches, the use of wrong stitches, bunchy buttonholes, oddly spaced buttons, and errors.
Note: Neither fit problems nor other alterations will be covered in this class.
You should have experience knitting a whole project and be ready to do the finishing or tried to finish and gotten frustrated.
