Jennifer Stern-Hasemann, owner and designer at J Stern Designs, has a solid background in pattern design and drafting, fit, and construction.
Her original line of fashion patterns, jeans, a cup-sized fitted shirt, and a unique tee, focus on flattering designs with easy-to-follow instructions and fit techniques. She loves to work with knit fabric and has designed an Easy-to-Fit-and-Sew Collection of patterns specially designed for knits.
She shares a wide variety of sewing, serging, fitting, and construction techniques via her J Stern Designs on the YouTube Channel, with over 100 video tutorials. Additionally, she teaches for the Master Seamstress Program at URI and online at craftsy.com and patternreview.com.

9017 Easy Learn to Sew Knit Garments using your Sewing Machine
If you're new to sewing clothes for yourself, this class is for you. Work with a variety of fabrics and notions following Jennifer's step-by-step guidance to help you get professional results sewing knit garments.
Knit fabrics are easy to work with because the raw edges do not fray. Built-in stretch makes them easy to fit. We'll start by discussing the best needles and notions to use, then talk about a variety of knits and how to use them.
You will leave class with a reference binder full of knit samples that include a variety of seam treatments and finishing techniques. Your reference guide will take the mystery out of working with knits at home.
Note: Sewing machines provided for use in the classroom.

9009 Easy Easy Fit and Sew Yoga Pants
If you have ever wanted to sew for yourself, but felt that you needed a little help along the way, this class is perfect. Using my Easy Fit and Sew One-Piece Yoga Pant Pattern, you'll have the opportunity to try on samples to find your best starting size. Then Iâ€™ll show you simple adjustments to fine-tune your pattern for a flattering, comfortable fit. Use those pattern pieces to cut out and sew your new favorite yoga pants.
Iâ€™ve taken the guess work out of choosing the right fabric; black 4-way stretch knit is included in your kit. Learn tricks and tips to get professional results to sew knit garments with a serger or sewing machine .

9032 Easy Tee Fit Workshop
Join Jennifer as she takes you step-by-step through the process of fitting your new favorite knit top. The Tee Pattern has unique above the bust seams that make it easy to get a great fit no matter what your fitting challenges may be. Start by trying on knit muslins to determine which size to work with. Then, I'll show you simple pattern adjustments including a full-bust adjustment and neckline and shoulder adjustments. You can customize the look and fit of your Tee by relaxing the fit of the front and back lower bodice pieces and choosing between sleeveless, short or 3/4 length sleeves. Learn how to select fabric with the right amount of stretch to get flattering results. We'll play with a variety of knits that are included in your kit. You'll leave class with a pattern thatâ€™s ready for fabric and the confidence to pick out the perfect fabric.

9086 Easy Stretch Jeans
Are they knit jeansâ€¦or dress pants? Update your wardrobe with the most comfortable knit jeans youâ€™ve ever tried on.
We will work with my Knit Jeans Pattern; it's easy to fit and sew. Start by trying on samples to make quick work of choosing your size. Then Iâ€™ll show you how to fine-tune the fit.
Use your adjusted pattern pieces to sew a muslin. In addition to perfecting the fit of your pattern, weâ€™ll explore different fabric and style choices. Iâ€™ll show you how to create an easy faux-front fly and how to transform the front pockets into a comfort panel. You'll learn how to get professional results sewing with a serger or sewing machine.
Then youâ€™ll have a front-row seat for a trunk show featuring a variety of knit jeans. Youâ€™ll be amazed at how using fabrics like stretch velvet, luxe double knits, and even stretch woven fabrics can transform your comfy knit jeans into dress pants that are perfect for every occasion.
