Biography |
I fell into the fiber world by joining a girlfriend to take a macrame class. I started doing finger weaving on top of the macrame mandalas. My uncle Earl heard that I was weaving and challenged me to come home to Wyoming and get an ashford spinning wheel kit, that one of my cousins rejected. Returning with kit and several very dirty fleeces of wonderful Columbia I joined the Pueblo Weavers Guild to be part of the spinning group. Months later and tired of working with the natural colored wool, you need to know that I have a very short attention span, I went to Santa Fe and found a dyer. Next step buy all the dyes and pots and start making colored wools. Before long I had lots of yarn and nothing to do with it. I did not knit at this time. A teacher approached me and offered to teach me to weave, for free. Fast forward 10 years and I am the owner operator of a successful yarn store, Just Dyelightful Handwovens. The store forced me to learn to knit so I could help my customers. If all things in life that we are forced to learn bring as much pleasure as knitting I will never balk at new things again. Now I have a dye company and work toward pleasing color combinations. If you haven't seen our yarns, check us out at all Stitches events.
