AUG 7-10, 2014
Renaissance Schaumburg Convention
Center & Hotel, Schaumburg, IL
Welcome to the STITCHES Midwest 2014 Social Media Resource Page!
Whether you're at the show or at home watching what's happening, we've got you covered with at least one of your favorite social media sites.
We've done our best to try to give you options for your computer, tablet, or mobile device. We hope you enjoy the show (virtually or otherwise).
There will be a lot of people talking about the show on Twitter. You can follow our company account @KniTalk. Our Marketing Manager, Lisa Mannes (@LisaXRX) will also be tweeting throughout the weekend, so feel free to follow her as well.
If you want to follow what everyone is saying about STITCHES Midwest 2014, the easiest thing to do is to follow our hashtag: #STITCHESMidwest
We'd also ask that if you tweet from or about the show that you please remember to use the #STITCHESMidwest hashtag in your tweets.
We'll be putting a lot of pictures of the market as well as classes and our events on Facebook. If you're a social media voyeur, this is where you want to check up on the show.
Our main Facebook outlet will be our Knitting Universe Facebook page. This is where you'll find larger collections of images from our events. If you haven't 'Liked' us yet on Facebook, now is the time to do so.
If you see something on our Facebook page, please don't be afraid to make a comment or ask a question. We'll do our best to follow-up with you as time allows.
We'll be tagging our vendors, sponsors, and teachers when possible... and we encourage you to 'Like' those Facebook pages as well.
Facebook also now supports hashtags. So please use and search for #STITCHESMidwest on Facebook.
We have a wonderful group on Ravelry that really has the inside scoop on what's happening. If you aren't on Ravelry you should be. And if you haven't found and joined our group... what's taking you so long (smile)?
Once you join the STITCHES Midwest 2014 Ravelry group, you'll have access to a lot of information and resources. We especially recommend checking out the STITCHES Midwest 2014 Vendor Preview thread and Erin Garcia's cool Market Map.
Instagram isn't something that we use much (except in our Rebel Mouse feed). But we know that you do.
Most people publish Instagram photos to Twitter and/or Facebook at the same time they publish them to Instagram. This gives us the opportunity to tag them with our #STITCHESMidwest hashtag. And although there isn't a way to search for hashtags on the Instagram site, you can search for those hashtags on your mobile devices (see the screen shots from an iPhone to the right).
Flickr is something that we've been doing for a while now. And we've sort of got this one down.
Our Flickr account name is xrxflickr. And we post all our stuff (brochures, the show book, events collections) in Sets on this site. But we also try to tag items so that you can view our images by the show itself.
For this event we'll be tagging our Flickr images with the tag 'stitchesmidwest'. If you use Flickr, we encourage you to do the same so that we can create a nice large photo album of the show.
And if you see something that we posted on Flickr, please feel free to share it elsewhere online as you wish.
Even though we don't have a lot of followers on Google+, we're going to do our best to upload interesting things from the Market as well as pictures from the STITCHES Midwest 2014 events.
If you're on Google+ we encourage you to follow our Knitting Universe Google+ page and share with us there as well.
Please feel free to take and share this image!
Although we have lots of social media choices, we think that our Rebel Mouse feed for STITCHES Midwest is the best way to preview and follow the show.
The KniTalk Rebel Mouse feed aggregates content from across many different social media sites (including Instagram, Twitter, Flickr, Facebook, Google+, Pinterest, and LinkedIn, as well as other sources that we've setup). You'll be able to check one site for pix of the Market as well as pictures from the STITCHES Midwest 2014 events.
You can check out our feed on our own pages or on the standalone KniTalk RebelMouse site (which is also mobile friendly and great for an iPad or other tablet).
If you're an iPhone or Android phone user, then we have great news for you. Rebel Mouse has a FREE app for both those devices.
Our CEO and STITCHES host, Benjamin Levisay, also has a fast growing podcast called Fiber Hooligan.
This podcast is dedicated to bringing you interviews with the best of the fiber arts world... including the teachers, vendors, and sponsors of STITCHES. You'll probably find that STITCHES Midwest has been talked about quite a bit in the last few weeks.
If you have a chance, please check it out.
