No Yokes About It: Perfecting Fit and Techniques for Your Yoke-patterned Sweater with Anne Podlesak
Round yoke sweaters are flattering and quite rewarding to make once you understand the shaping details. We will focus on top-down construction, discuss the different increases and decreases--types, location, and frequency--required to shape the yoke and underarms for a well-fitting sweater.
The first day will cover the techniques, the math behind this type of construction, and ways to customize the fit. If you have swatched a yarn and stitch or color pattern, you are able to plan a custom-fit yoke using Anne's worksheet. Several of your measurements are unique to a well-fitting yoke sweater, so wear a layer if you wish to be measured, and bring your swatch (or work with hypothetical numbers) because stitch and row gauge are equally critical for yokes.
The second day will continue with stitch pattern choices and some basic color theory suggestions to develop and tailor the design to your own personal taste.
Note: Students should have some knowledge of knitting in the round, chart-reading, and know how to knit, purl, and work increases and decreases.
