Tied Up In Knots with Beth Whiteside
Knots are one of the most ingenious of ordinary, practical things. Little feats of engineering, their loops and bends hold climbers aloft, secure boats to the dock, and keep brown paper packages tied up with string. But knots are also things of beauty, their twistings and turnings intriguing to the eye, with a language all their own. In this class you will learn how to make several different types of knots, some practical and some decorative. We'll go over materials and tools, the language of knot-making, and how to "finish" a knot. You'll never look at a length of clothesline the same way again!
Note: Students should know how to tie an overhand or slip knot. Supplies
__6 feet of heavy cord (paracord, clothesline, kitchen cotton cord, etc) __Masking/painter’s tape __scissors __Knitting needle or awl for adjusting knots OPTIONAL: $2 kit fee collected in class will have everything you need. Homework
