History, Methods and Styles of Lace Knitting with Franklin Habit
In this session, explore the principles, lore, and techniques of knitting's grandest tradition. Subjects to be covered include beginnings and endings, chart reading, lifelines, the structure of knitted lace, fixing mistakes, blocking and more. We will also discuss the great 'national' schools of knitted lace and what makes them unique.
1 ball smooth, DK or sport weight yarn (such as Cascade 220 Sport, Dale Baby Ull or St-Denis Nordique) in white or a light color; wool or another non-slippery natural fiber is recommended; 3.5, 3.75 or 4 mm/ US 4, 5, or 6 needles (8" or longer) or circular needle (24" suggested length)
Sharp scissors, notebook, pen or pencil with an eraser, stitch markers, blunt tapestry needles (large and small), flexible tape measure, small calculator, and needles & crochet hooks of various sizes.
