Bead Crochet Necklace with Marly Bird
Add a new tool to your crochet bag and learn how to add beads to a project. Get hands on instruction for making your very own crochet beaded necklace. This fun and fast project is a great way to venture into the world of beaded crochet. Learn two different methods of adding beads to any crochet project, and BEST of all, you will finish the project in class and can wear it around the market all weekend to show off your beautiful work. This is the class for you to become a capital C crocheter and add a little pizzazz to your work.

1 ball size 3 or thinner 100% mercerized cotton thread, 1 ball light-colored, sock yarn, 1 tube size 6 seed beads, an assortment of small and medium beads (I prefer plastic but glass will work), size 14 steel crochet hook, collapsible beading needle, small container for beads.

Sharp scissors, notebook, pen or pencil with an eraser, stitch markers, blunt tapestry needles (large and small), flexible tape measure, small calculator, and needles & crochet hooks of various sizes.

With light colored sock yarn and US F/3.75mm hook make a Griddle Stitch swatch as follows: Ch 22 Row 1 Sc in 2nd ch from hook, dc in next ch, *sc in next ch, dc in next ch. Repeat from * to last ch. Sc in last ch, turn—11 sc, 10 dc. Row 2 Ch 2, (tch does not count as st here and throughout) *dc in first sc, sc in next dc. Repeat from * to last st, turn—10 sc, 11 dc. Row 3 Ch 2, *sc in dc, dc in sc. Repeat from * to last st. Rep rows 2 and 3 until swatch meas 2”. DO NOT FINISH OFF, bring to class as we will work on this swatch.
