Floating Away with Karen Frisa
Simple, pretty, and effective, floats are the strands of yarn that go in front of or behind stitches when you slip them. In this class we'll learn several different stitch patterns that use floats in unusual ways. The stitch patterns are easy to do and look beautiful! They can be a nice way to show off a variegated yarn by mixing up the colors, but they also look great with solids.
__Smooth worsted-weight yarn—a variegated yarn can be nice, but a solid color is fine too
__needles in the size that you usually use for your chosen yarn
Sharp scissors, notebook, pen or pencil with an eraser, stitch markers, blunt tapestry needles (large and small), flexible tape measure, small calculator, and needles & crochet hooks of various sizes.
With your chosen yarn and needles, cast on 31 (39) sts—choose 31 sts if you are a slower knitter or like to work at a leisurely pace during classes, and 39 sts if you are a faster knitter. Purl 1 row, knit 1 row, purl 1 row. Leave on needles with yarn attached and bring to class.
