Skirts For Every Body with Candace Eisner Strick
Most knit skirts use a turned-down waistband with elastic. This creates bulk right where most people don't want it! With Candace's unique method you can banish that bulk. Also learn all the necessary techniques to knit a custom-fit skirt. Sample some fun and flirty design options: from ruffles, to inserts, to handkerchief hemlines.
_#4 (worsted-weight) yarn
_appropriately sized needles.
_Knitting Basics: Sharp scissors, Notebook, Pen or pencil with eraser, Stitch markers, Tapestry needles (large and small), Tape measure, Small calculator, Needles and crochet hooks of various sizes
With worsted-weight yarn and appropriately sized needles, E-loop cast on 18 sts. Purl 1 row.
Row 1 K4, p1, k8, p1, k4.
Row 2 P4, k1, p8, k1, p4.
Row 3 K3, kfb, p1, k7, kfb, p1, k4 (2 sts increased).
Row 4 P4, k2, p8, k2, p4.
Row 5 K4, p2, k8, p2, k4.
Row 6 P4, k2, p8, k2, p4.
Row 7 K3, kfb, p2, k7, kfb, p2, k4.
Row 8 P4, k3, p8, k3, p4.
Row 9 K4, p3, k8, p3, k4.
Row 10 P4, k3, p8, k3, p4.
Divide for inset (work each side separately)
Row 1 (RS) K4, p3, k4.
Row 2 P4, k3, p4. Rep rows 1 and 2 five times (10 rows TOTAL), then knit 4 rows. BO.
Attach yarn at center and work as for right side.
