Eye-Catching Edgings with Edie Eckman
Crochet in on trend in fashion and home decor, so be a part of it with crochet edgings on your linens, handwovens, clothing, and, of course, knit and crochet pieces. Learn several ways to attach crocheted edgings, when to crochet-on vs. sew-on, and best practices for choosing yarns and edgings.  You'll get hands-on practice crocheting your choice of borders, as well as plenty of ideas for quick-to-make projects with lots of oomph!

Class time allows for sampling a couple of edgings and we will cover other options that you can practice at home.

Note: Must be comfortable with basic crochet stitches: chain, single and double crochet.

_One or two of the following: a handkerchief, napkin, dishtowel, apron, handwoven fabric with finished edges, knit or crochet swatch.

Keeping in mind the scale of your project and the weight of your fabric also bring:
_lighter-weight fabrics
_Pearl or crochet cotton thread or up to dk-weight cotton for medium-weight fabrics
_Yarn used for weaving, knitting or crocheting, or similar-weight yarn
_A sharp sewing needle in a size appropriate for your thread/yarn
_Hooks in appropriate sizes for your thread/yarn

_Crochet Basics: Sharp scissors, Notebook, Pen or pencil with eraser, Stitch markers, Tapestry needles (large and small), Tape measure, Small calculator, Crochet hooks of various sizes

Ensure that fabrics are ready for an edging by washing and ironing fabrics as needed; block knit and crochet swatches.
