Creative Knitting: Crazy Quilt Style with Myra Wood

_10-20 yards each of 6 coordinating smooth, #4 (worsted weight) yarn, any fiber_10-15 yds of coordinating novelty and textured yarns _3.75, 4 and 4.5mm/US 5, 6 and 7 short straight or circular needles _various sizes of crochet hooks from E to I _yarn needle _plastic protractor _pencil with eraser. _Knitting Basics: Sharp scissors, Notebook, Pen or pencil with eraser, Stitch markers, Tapestry needles (large and small), Tape measure, Small calculator, Needles and crochet hooks of various sizes Sharp scissors, notebook, pen or pencil with an eraser, stitch markers, blunt tapestry needles (large and small), flexible tape measure, small calculator, and needles & crochet hooks of various sizes. Block the following swatch to exactly 4" x 4". Larger or smaller squares are not usable for this class but can be used later so re-knit the square
until they are the correct size when blocked for this homework task.
Using any 1 of the worsted weight yarns, work in garter stitch:
Swatch Cast on 1 stitch, knit front, back and front of same stitch. (3 sts) 2 All rows, knit front and back of 1st stitch, then knit to end of row on each row until 1 side of the square is approximately 3.75-3.85". (Each row increases 1 stitch.) 3 On the very next row and every row until 1 stitch remains, knit to last 2 sts, then knit 2 together. (Each row decreases 1 stitch.) 4 Cut yarn leaving a 5" tail and pull through. |
