Navajo Intarsia with Michelle Hunter
This magical technique combines Navajo Knitting and Intarsia to create opaque motifs on a sheer background. Unlike traditional Intarsia, only one skein is used at a time with no interlocking or ends to weave in. It's fast, fun and easy to learn! Previous experience with Navajo knitting and Intarsia are not required.

All of the basics of Navajo Intarsia will be covered while creating a swatch for the stunning shawl, Spotted Fever. The whimsical wrap features opaque polka dots dancing on a sheer background. Using fingering weight yarn, the pattern is available in two sizes -both perfect for warming the shoulders on a chilly evening. During the session we will be swatching and beginning the shawl - be sure to bring a fabulous yarn to showcase the design!

We will also explore ways to incorporate the technique into an endless array of design possibilities.

The shawl is available in 2 sizes: Small (Large) – 60 (76)” wide, 33 (40)” deep at center point.
_One color of smooth, fingering weight yarn, 760 (1,100) yards
_5.5mm/US9, or size needed to obtain gauge of approx. 16 sts and 23 rows = 4" in stockinette after blocking, 32-40” circular needle. (No need to swatch - gauge will be determined in class!) Bring extra needles to class to adjust size if necessary.
_Knitting Basics: Sharp scissors, Notebook, Pen or pencil with eraser, Stitch markers, Tapestry needles (large and small), Tape measure, Small calculator, Needles and crochet hooks of various sizes
