A False Start with Tracy Purtscher
Question: When is a cast-on not the beginning of a project? Answer: When a provisional cast on is used.
A provisional cast-on is temporary and will eventually be removed to release live stitches so knitting or grafting can continue from there. The reasons may vary from project to project but the most common ones hide the cast-on, add pliability, or invisibly blend the beginning to the end of a knit -think toe-up socks, a center-out design, maybe a long strip grafted into a cowl.

You will learn several ways to cast-on provisionally. Then we will consider circumstances in which it may be beneficial to choose a false start-when, where, and why.
