Macro Yubinuki with Tracy Purtscher
Yubinuki are Japanese thimbles with a centuries old history and rich tradition. Akin in concept to Tamari Balls, it is the cross layering of colorful threads that creates the beautiful geometric designs and traditionally worked in fine silk threads,

Students will learn Yubinuki history while combining this ancient technique with modern materials, in a much larger scale, to create their own thimble, ring, or bangle bracelet

Note: Basic knowledge of buttonhole stitch or blanket stitch is helpful.


Supplies
__2 full skeins of embroidery floss in contrasting colors (3rd and 4th colors optional) OR #5 perle cotton, approximately 9 yards of each color
__20 yards of scrap yarn, worsted-weight, NOT fuzzy (matching or similar color to one of the thread colors is preferred but not necessary)
__Sewing Basics: Needles, Thread, Sharp scissors, Notebook, Pen or pencil with eraser, Tape measure, Seam ripper, Pins

Materials Fee: $3.00 includes thimble/ring and bangle blanks, bias tape, 2 needles, and needle threader
