Clasped-warp Scarf with Deborah Jarchow
You may have tried clasped weft as a design, but clasped warp can add extra interest to your woven pieces! Learn to make a stunning scarf in clasped-warp method on a rigid-heddle loom. See how using two different warp yarns can create beautiful color play in the fabric. If you've taken beginning rigid heddle weaving, enhance your skills. This type of weaving is portable, easy and fun!
Note: Rigid-heddle looms provided for class use.
Lab fee: $10.00
__150-200 yards each of 2 *contrasting* colors of a smooth, solid color lace-dk-weight yarn for the warp. The warp yarns should be smooth, non-hairy, strong enough not to break, and at least 2 ply (no singles).
__You will also need 200 yards of dk-or-fingering-weight yarn, for the weft
__10-15 yards waste yarn (acrylic worsted-weight works well),
__2 brown paper grocery bags,
__tube from inside a paper towel roll.
__If bringing your own: RH loom at least 8” weaving width, 7.5 or 8 dent reed, warping peg and clamps, sley/threading hook
Yarn must be wound into balls before class.
