Knitted Zoo Key Chain with Megan Kreiner
Knit an adorable zoo animal keychain using a variety of traditional and non-traditional toy-making techniques! Start off with a basic head pattern then learn how to customize the design to make it uniquely yours!
We will go over various toy-making techniques such as working in the round using the magic loop, attaching limbs with waste yarn openings, and easy embellishment tricks to make your keychain look extra adorable!
Choose between an elephant, bear, lion, or hippo and create your very own knitted keychain friend!
Note: Students should know how to read a knit pattern and a working understanding of basic knit stitches.
__Knitting Basics: Sharp scissors, Notebook, Pen or pencil with eraser, Stitch markers, Tapestry needles (large and small), Tape measure, Small calculator, Circular/Straight needles of various sizes
__Classic Worsted-weight (#4) yarn in assorted colors. Approximately 50 yards for a main body 10-15 yards of black for facial details.(If making the lion, include 20 additional yards in a contrasting color for the mane. For the hippo, include 10 yards of white for teeth)
__6”x6” square of felt that matches your Main Color and matching thread
__Long circular needles (size 4mm) to practice the magic-loop technique.
__Large Steel Tapestry Needle & Sewing Needle.
__5-6oz of Polyester Fiberfill
