Over and Under Rainbows with Gyleen Fitzgerald
Modern with a twist! "KNOT" as hard as you think! It's visually dynamic with fast easy piecing. Don't let cutting "tie" you up. All you need is one 2.5" strip set and 3.5 yards of background. You will learn how to use the Angle Trim Tool to make effortless 45 degree joins. Learn to have courage with color cross pairing.
Basic quilt-making skills required: rotary cutting, piecing a 1/4" seam.

Note: Sewing machines provided for class use.

Materials fee: $25 for pattern and Angle Trim Tool

FABRIC: (42) 2 ½" x 40" strips, assorted colors (solids, semi-solids, batiks)
3-½ yards background fabric (4 yards if you want a border)

Patchwork/Quilting Basics: Thread snips, Seam ripper, Straight pins, Finger-pressing tool, and batting to use as a design wall (optional)

Sharp scissors, notebook, pen or pencil with an eraser, stitch markers, blunt tapestry needles (large and small), flexible tape measure, small calculator, and needles & crochet hooks of various sizes.

Homework: Cut (12) 2 ½" x 40" strips from background fabric.

Workshop project is a 70" x 70" lap quilt, however doing less makes a wonderful table or bed runner. Project looks modern with solid or semi-solid or batik fabric. Select a background fabric that doesn’t compete with your strips. If you have a collection of self-made 2 ½" strips, go for scrappy. (I used my light 2 ½" strips for a scrappy background.) Don't overthink it. Come to have fun.
