The Hole Truth: Buttons and Buttonholes with Phyllis Bell Miller
Buttons are the perfect closure for knits and wonderful for sewn garments, but we are often intimidated by their placement and sizing the buttonholes to accommodate them.
Fear no more! here is the HOW to make knit and crochet buttonholes like a pro, the WHERE,WHEN and WHY for placing planning, sizing, placing, and spacing buttons.
You will create a viable button-band sample (in knit or crochet)in class. The practical application will put the theory and rules into action. You'll learn considerations for changes should you choose to add, adjust or rearrange your closures.
__Swatch and leftover yarn
__Knitting needles or crochet hook 2 sizes smaller than what was used for the swatch
__Knitting Basics: Sharp scissors, Notebook, Pen or pencil with eraser, Stitch markers, Tapestry needles (large and small), Tape measure, Small calculator, Needles and crochet hooks of various sizes
__Crochet Basics: Sharp scissors, Notebook, Pen or pencil with eraser, Stitch markers, Tapestry needles (large and small), Tape measure, Small calculator, Crochet hooks of various sizes
Create a 5" wide X 8" long knit or crochet swatch (we will be adding a band to either edge so no edge treatments are necessary)
