Since its first appearance in Knitter's Magazine issues 56–59, The Great American Kid's Afghan has appealed both to knitters and the kids they knit for.
The 12 designers are Moms (or Grandmoms) and the colors are bright, primary tones sure to please. The squares are interesting and fun to make. Placed 3 by 4, the squares make a perfect kid's-sized piece.
