Pamela Leggett

Pamela has been teaching sewing since 1981. Specializing in pattern fitting, fine garment sewing skills, knits and serging, she has developed a fun and informative teaching style that is available in her patterns and instructional DVD's.

One of Pamela's passions is creating garments that flatter and fit the wearer. Her desire to teach others to achieve the perfect fit led her to the Palmer/Pletsch pattern fitting method, which she has used to help hundreds of women successfully achieve good fit and a renewed love of garment sewing. It is with this knowledge that she created Pamela's Patterns, which have many fitting solutions and adjustments built into the patterns.

Pamela is a contributing writer, book author, and DVD personality for Threads Magazine, an instructor for Craftsy/Bluprint online classes, director of the Palmer/Pletsch Philadelphia and Connecticut Sewing Workshops and a national sewing/serging educator. She has also appeared on PBS’s Sewing With Nancy and Canada’s The Shopping Channel.

Pamela lives in Connecticut where she operates her business and has a teaching program at The Studio at Pamela’s Patterns in Vernon CT.

Friday 9:00 am - 12:00 pm Friday 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
9048 No skills required Custom Dress Form Workshop A dress form is a useful tool for garment design and fitting. The problem is getting one to fit all your curves. Custom forms are expensive and can't be easily altered, and duct tape forms collapse over time.

In this class, we will use an adjustable form that you will "build and pad" to look just like you! Other than the dress form, the supplies are simple - a bra and undies, batting and fiberfill, and some bandaging from the drug store. The best thing about this form is that with the skills you learn in this class, you will be able to change the dress form as your body changes! We'll finish the form with a custom cover. You will now be ready for your fitting and design challenges.

NOTE: Sewing machines are provided for use in class.
Saturday 9:00 am - 12:00 pm Saturday 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
9045 Intermediate The Perfect T-shirt Workshop You probably think of a t-shirt as that comfy top you throw on to do the housework. In reality, a nice fitting t-shirt can be the most versatile top in your wardrobe. This selection from Pamela's Patterns addresses all the fitting issues women face (rounded shoulders and back, full bust, hip room, etc.), and gives you a t-shirt you'll be proud to wear anywhere! Make it casual, dressy, or anything in between. You'll use this pattern over and over again!
Note: Wear a camisole or tank top to class.
Note: Sewing machines provided for class use. If you live locally and own a serger, please bring it to class (4-thread stitch with a matching/blending thread color.)
Materials fee: $18 for pattern and stay tape
Sunday 11:00 am - 12:30 pm
9047 No skills required The T-shirt and Sweater Makeover Make the best of those oversized T-Shirts from vacations, school activities and concerts. Even though they may have a super cool logo or design, you only wear them to bed or for cleaning the house because they are loose & sloppy. Now, thanks to Pamela's Patterns, you can turn those big T-shirts into fitted and stylish tops you'll be proud to wear anywhere! The technique is simple and fast. Just think: in no time you could have a whole new wardrobe of cute tops!
Bonus: Pamela will also show you how you can do makeovers on sweaters, polo's, cardigans, and more!
