Anna Zilboorg
Anna is an Anglican solitary and an Elder of the knitting community. She devotes her remaining energy to teaching the living craft ( as opposed to just following directions). She has been called the Anarchist Knitter because of her book Knitting for Anarchists, and the Mad Bobbler due to her love of three-dimensional stitches. Other books include Magnificent Mittens and Socks and Splendid Apparel, both available, as well as Fancy Feet (Turkish patterns) and Hats, both out of print.

2024 Easy Embroider your Knitting
Embroidery has been used always and everywhere to embellish fabric, while knitting has been left bare save for a few lazy daisies and French knots. In this class we'll integrate simple embroidery stitches into simple knit stitches to create many different effects, both new and wonderful. Learn to incorporate back stitch, cable chain, Palestrina knot, cross stitch flower, and others into ribs, cables, and other stitches whether you are right- or left-handed.
Saturday 9:00 am - 12:00 pm SOLD OUT
5304 Intermediate Excrescences: Bobbles, Bumps, Lumps, Leaves, & Ledges
This class will explore the many possible ways of making a three-dimensional addition to a knitted surface. In doing this, we'll make a sampler of nupps, bobbles, and larger shapes. A few esoteric techniques will appear, such as making multiple I-cords at the same time, and we'll be expanding into over-all patterns and graceful leafy panels. Knitting need never be flat.
Sunday 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
5103 Intermediate Surprisingly Special Techniques
Learn techniques that Anna has found more useful than she ever imagined. Most important is the perfect buttonhole, and it IS a perfect buttonhole.
It is helpful if students have some experience with kitchener stitching, but even without it, one can make almost perfect buttonholes that never sag and always close.
There is also a k1, p1 rib with neat, even stitches; easy wrapping for clusters--once, twice, and thrice; knitting backwards with 2 colors (never purl Fair Isle again); plus other hints which are more or less arcane but no less useful.
